OBITUARY POLLY JENKINS EVANS
Polly Evans died at the home of her son, Evan Evans in Eden Township, Decatur County, Iowa, February 10, 1895, at the age age of 96 years and 26 days. Her maiden name was Jenkins, and she was born and raised in Kentucky. She was married to John Evans in Kentucky some 79 years ago, and then moved to Indiana and lived there till 1853, when her and her husband and her three youngest sons moved to Decatur County, Iowa and settled on the land where she died. Her husband died some 30 years ago.

She was the mother of 10 children, four of whom are still living, one daughter living in Indiana and three sons living in Eden Township, Evan, John S. and Andrew. She had been a member of the Baptist Church for many years, was a kind neighbor and indulgent mother and esteemed by all who knew her. Her death was the result of old age more than any other cause. Sh was buried in Eden Prairie Cemetery by the side of her husband.
